The LAST of the Blogs for Class of 2011

The end is near...the light of summer is at the end of this path. However, before you go, I'd like to hear from you. As you know, the curriculum in the class can be rather...um....DARK. I am hoping that in the course of lugging the 30-pound binders and staying up to complete 2 hours of homework that you were able to find some "favorite": a book, a story, a character, a moment from class. Or, perhaps you have learned something (goodness, I HOPE so) or had an a-ha moment (in class/ discussion/ book) in which you were able to appreciate something that was being instructed. Please share any or all of the above. And, before I sign off, let me say again what a privilege it has been to work with you. "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams"....and DON'T ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY. You deserve more! Fondly, Miss A.

Literary Superlatives!

In preparation for the literary yearbook, a review project for the final examination, begin to think of creative ways to immortalize all of the literary characters (sans Mythology) that you have encountered this year. From And Then There Were None to Lord of the Flies, many characters would win some fun and interesting senior superlatives if they were high school students.

Hottest wheels? Dreamiest Date? Best hair? Most likely to end up in a straight jacket? Be ironic or serious, just be appropriate and have some fun!

You can be an on-line literary critic!

Many of you have been quite vocal concerning your views of Hamilton's Mythology. As your first venue to English 9 Honors last summer, it is no wonder that a few of you felt rather overwhelmed!

You've had a chance to comment on To Kill a Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies; here is your chance to comment on the titanic tome! The Amazon reviews were fairly repetitive and boring; what is your opinion? Be honest; have fun; BE APPROPRIATE! And, perhaps, you can give some credit to the stories you enjoyed!

Lord of the Flies: Savagery

In your opinion, what is the single worst action, behavior, or scene in the novel? Why is this particular action more depraved than others? Please support your opinion.

Dynamic Characterization

OK...this one might cause a little bit of a stir....

Is either (or both) Mde. Loisel or Rainsford a dynamic character? PROVE it!

Simple question, not so simple answer:

Do you have any sympathy for Mdme. Loisel at the end of the story? Defend your position.
