The LAST of the Blogs for Class of 2011

The end is near...the light of summer is at the end of this path. However, before you go, I'd like to hear from you. As you know, the curriculum in the class can be rather...um....DARK. I am hoping that in the course of lugging the 30-pound binders and staying up to complete 2 hours of homework that you were able to find some "favorite": a book, a story, a character, a moment from class. Or, perhaps you have learned something (goodness, I HOPE so) or had an a-ha moment (in class/ discussion/ book) in which you were able to appreciate something that was being instructed. Please share any or all of the above. And, before I sign off, let me say again what a privilege it has been to work with you. "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams"....and DON'T ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY. You deserve more! Fondly, Miss A.

Ms. Arney "I don't care if a pack of Australian Dogs somehow manages to make it across the oceans of the world, hunts down your family, and your house burns down. Your yearbooks WILL be here on monday, even if I have to get them myself!"

Miss Arney said...

Dave: I believe I said "a rabid pack of dingos from the Australian outback", but close enough.

I must say Miss Arney, despite the fact that they were gory and full of death, dismemberment, and incest (typical day...), the books we read this year were actually not that bad! Some of them I even LIKED! So thank you for making the class a little bit more interesting! :)

Miss Arney said...

David: Do you keep a tape recorder under your desk to keep track of EVERYTHING I say?!?!?!?

Miss Arney said...

..And thank you, Cristelle...but I'm afraid that tells me that you share my warped sense of happiness if you actually LIKED some of the lit this year :-)

Remember that time when everyone kept trying to find some kid... i think his name was "Rizzle" or something like that??? i dont know maybe i am the only sane one on this blog right now that doesn't imagine kids in the middle of the classroom named "Rixxle"

Anonymous said...

I kind of agree with Cristelle. I would hate the books after I read them alone, but then when we went over them in class, I started to like them much more. When the books were explained I actually liked some of them.

Ms. Arney, I may not keep a tape recorder, but you are close. I take small post-it notes of funny moments.

Yearbook projects are fun.

Everything else is really lame.

Miss Arney said...

Sorry that 99.99999% of the year was so "really lame", Kevin.

Besides the class "moments" (thanks, David, for so many!): is there any other favorite books, projects, activities, characters, discussions, etc?!?!?!

when k fine had to "during"

and when me and ambika submitted our yearbook project

george refering to romeo and juliet as elizabethean porn

Miss Arney said...

Thank you, Shannon!

My favorite book to read this year was probably Lord of the Flies, but my favorite to recite and mock was Romeo and Juliet
P.S. when Ms. Arney switched Harrison's and my seats and K. Rizzle just up and left the room
P.P.S. Hope you all liked my comments, but I am sorry to say that I have finally run out of material

David: OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you have this photographic memory for your other classes as well??!??!!!??

Anonymous said...

i agree with kevin
i really like doing the year book projects much better than essays.

i also loved in Romeo and Juliet when they would make a sexual joke and just looking at the look on Miss Arney's face. :]

Miss Arney(putting her hands together): You see, Cronus tried to prevent her from having more kids, so it was more of... like how heaven is on top of earth...

Sam: can you draw a diagram?

I hate to say it, but i actually LIKE it when we play that last man standing game...without those I would have probably failed every single unit test! And I agree with Kevin and Erika, I love yearbook projects.

Dave said...

Gummy Pizza?! How could I have missed this?!

Dave said...

And Ms. Arney, I only have photographic memory for your class because it is just so darned entertaining

Megan Veirun said...

This year we read a lot of different books, but my favorite was To Kill a Mockingbird because I found it to be entertaining and easy to understand. Most of the other books weren't as interesting and easy to follow. Also, this year i found lingo to be very helpful along with the last man standing game.

Whats this bubble everyone talks about?? I don't remember anything about me being a bubble boy...
Jekyll and Hyde could have been really cool if you hadn't spoiled the ending :P
Oh and The Lord of the Flies Musical was just about the best thing I got from your class.
Okso your class wasn't horrible... It was certainly better than Ms. DeNoyelles... >_>

Dave said...

Well K Fine, K. Rizzle and bubble boy are both nicknames for ninth period's very own Kevin Roth!!!
I am sorry to say that the bubble story was a 'You had to be there' moment

Dave said...

I think I have posted enough to secure enough participation points, so I sign off with reminding everyone about extreme woman from standard deviants tv
Good luck to all of you on the finals!!!

Miss Arney said...

David:
All of this was just a means of getting part points? Ouch; I thought it was because you actually had some enjoyable moments in class! I am too gullible.

the story about the blue books and if the professor knew his name...
then threw up all the test booklets and ran out of the room.

and the other story about the criminal breaking into the women's house and the roof book. He went to the hospital and later sued her and won the case.

Dave said...

Erica, I am impressed! And Ms. Arney, I did do it because of the funny moments. The Participation Points were just a very nice added bonus
