I don't have sympathy for Mdme. Loisel because she doesn't appreciate what she has, but envys what others have and is very materialistic. It is human nature to admire the things that other people do have and you don't, but she doesn't even realize that her pride resulted in ten years of hardship. She doesn't appreciate the scarfices her husband makes for her, and constantly complains. At the end of the story, she is thinking about the reception and how much people admired her, and still doesn't realize the mistakes she has made.

I have some sympathy for Mdme. Loisel. At the end of the story, when she tells her friend, Mme. Forestier, about the necklace, the narrator says that Mme. Forstier smiled with "proud and simple joy", so she was actually happy about all the hard work that her friend had to do for her in order to make sure that Mme. Forister wasn't going to be upset. But then again, it was Mdme. Loisel's fault for acting "careless" at the party, thus her not even seeing that she had lost it. So while I have some sympathy for Mdme. Loisel because of the way she was treated, she brought this upon herself.

I agree with Cristelle. I have some sympathy for Mdme. Loisel, because she has had to work so hard and put herself and her husband through a lot in order to have enough money to survive. But, Mdme. Loisel did deserve what happened to her, because she was not thankful for anything she had. Many people would do anything to have the kind of lifestyle she did and she took everything for granted and wanted more. She brought this upon herself, because of her carlessness and greediness. I have much more sympathy for her husband.

I have some sympathy for Mdme. Loisel. Although she has to suffer through ten years of hard work, Mdme. Loisel should have been honest with Mdme. Forestier when she first lost the necklace. If she had been honest, Mdme. Loisel wouldn't have had to spend so many years to pay for the diamond necklace. Also, if Mdme. Loisel wasn't so greedy, selfish and ungrateful, then I might have more sympathy for her.

I do not feel bad for her because she was complaining about her life and if she did not try to get a cab away not to look bad then she would not have lost the necklace... and at the end i feel like she was trying to get sympathy from her friend when telling her the story. Mme. Loisel did this all to herself but i feel horrible for her husband.

I do not have sympathy for Mdme. Loisel because she deserved to know what it felt like to work hard , even if it is for nothing. Her husband worked so hard to save up money and he had to use it on her dress, so I am glad Mdme. Loisel got a taste of what he always does for her. She never really appreciated anything and took everything for granted so she finally learned her lesson.

I dont have much pity at all for her. In my opinion, she brought down the troubles upon herself and her husband. I think the story was written so as to make the reader dislike Mdme. Loisel. Thinking about who the author is and his opinion of women in general makes me think that he wrote the story just to show others his opinion of women.

After reading the story, I have no sympathy for Mdme. Loisel whatsoever. Mdme. Loisel's husband worked hard on a daily basis in order to provide food and shelter. She didn't have to do much work and yet she complained everyday about how she didn't have the nicest clothes or jewlery. I was always taught to be thankful for what i have, no matter how much it is. Mdme. Loisel didn't value what she had, therefore i feel she deserved the stress and hard work she had to go through to repay her friend.

I have no sympathy for Mde. Loseil because she brought this upon herself. She never apreciated anything that her husband did for her. She only was happy when she was getting the necklace and when she wasat the dance. She was angry when her husband got her a ticket to the dance because she didn't have anything to wear. She was very greedy and envyed everyone and she caused it upon herself. This is Kerry.

i do feel bad for mdme. loisel because all she wanted was to be pretty and look nice for one night. she understood that she wasn't rich or famous or important, but for one night she wanted to look nice and be noticed. I would have done the same thing and asked to borrow a necklace from my friends. it is her own fault that she lost the necklace, but i feel bad for her because she wanted something just for a short amount of time, and then some of her life, and all of her pride and beauty is gone.

Mdme. Loisel did infact learn at the end of the story that she truley messed up her life over a peice of jewlery. Yes it is her fault for not asking about the necklace but it you were put in a very uncomfortable position where you lost something very valuable to one of your friends you would lie about where the jewlery was until you replaced it so you wouldnt be embarresed and feel not responsible. Mde. Losiel was in an tough spot and chose being poor over disapointing her friend. I have pity for her because she lost so much over something so insignificant.
